With an average rating of 3.7 stars, April was a good reading month overall. This is my first year tracking really detailed stats. Certainly star ratings combined with genre help me pick books that I am more likely to enjoy. Some of the other stats I find interesting, but I may not use them for any practical purpose other than for my own general interest.

I read more thrillers in April than I typically would which is largely due to timing – I’m participating in the Goodreads Around The Year In 52 Books challenge and I used a thriller in 2/4 prompts this month. I also participate in the Literally Dead Book Club which is mystery/thriller/horror focused so add another one to the list and finally, I had an arc of Mary Kubica’s The Other Mrs. that I wanted to finish.

I read the most books in April than I’ve read in any other month this year at 9 total.

One of the reasons that I wanted to work on a year-long challenge in 2020 is so that I read more of the books that I already own. In April, 2/9 books I read were published in 2020 while 7/9 were books that were not only published prior to 2020 but also were already on my shelves.

More stats to come next month!
