I can’t remember where I first heard Japandroids but I immediately liked them – I love their sound and their energy. They got together in 2006 after meeting at the University of Victoria and released their debut LP “Post-Nothing” in 2009. I was really curious about their name so after some “google research”, discovered that it is a merger of two names – one chosen by guitarist Brian King (Pleasure Droids) and one chosen by drummer David Prowse (Japanese Scream).
They appeared on Jimmy Fallon on January 4th and although I saw the performance, I didn’t notice that Brian King wore a t-shirt with Vancouver street names on it and David Prowse gave a shout out on his t-shirt to CJSF, the Simon Fraser University radio station that he used to DJ on. Very cool.
