Sudan365: A Beat For Peace

by Kelly

Join the global beat for peace.

Sudan365 is a charity that has taken some unique approaches to raising awareness about the problems faced in Sudan.  They are working to prevent a return to violence, to ease the suffering of millions who are still displaced and living in camps and to raise awareness of the referendum to be held on January 9, 2011 to determine the future of Sudan.  In part, it will determine the sharing of wealth and power in Sudan and whether Southern Sudan will remain part of Sudan.

It’s an amazing video with incredible beats.

Here’s an interview with Elbow drummer, Richard Jupp, about his participation in the project:  http://www.clashmusic.com/feature/elbow-talk-to-clashmusic.

Here’s a BBC article about the census in Sudan leading up to the referendum in 2011:  http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7359303.stm
